Background: Nur ad-Din was a 12th-century Muslim military leader and ruler, known for his efforts to unite Muslim territories against the Crusaders.

Nur ad-Din Zengi (Nuruddin Zinki):

Role: Nur ad-Din is often associated with the defense against the Crusaders and the protection of Islamic holy sites, including Al-Aqsa. His policies aimed to strengthen the Muslim world against external threats.

Was a member of the Zengid dynasty, which ruled the Syrian province (Shām) of the Seljuk Empire. He reigned from 1146 to 1174. He is regarded as an important figure of the Second Crusade.[1]
